Radar
The early morning at auction is always spent making our list of possibilities. To get on our list a horse or pony must have real need. Animals that are less likely to get bought by decent homes. This time of year there are very few good homes in the audience. This day was no exception. The dealers and kill buyers lined the front row in force.
We had several ponies on our list and an organized plan.
Well, right till the light sand colored pony whom I hadn't seem earlier came through. He tried desperately to be on his best behavior as the bidding started. I saw the quiver in his flank as he trotted down the line with his bravest good boy face. He seemed to know his life actually depended on it. Had we not cast our bid he would have surely been bought by a dealer and shown up on a scam broker page tomorrow.
In a blink we bid, 5 seconds later he was ours.
