Max

Max was well bred and imported from Germany. From birth he was destined to be a dressage superstar. Everything was great for Max- till it wasn't.  At just 14 yrs old, in his prime, the work load became too much and he began to break in multiple places throughout his body.

Top veterinarians couldn't put him back together again to be that high level horse he as intended to be.

He was going to be euthanized rather than risk falling into wrong hands.  The vet refused, expressed there was a better solution and called SHEW.

His owner, who's heart was in the right place, couldn't keep him and feared he'd end up on an Amish plow. This is a true reality for many horses regardless of pedigree or resume. Once a horse leaves an owners hands, they are at risk. EVERY Horse is.

This is one of SHEW'S core values and mission. We are here for owners who have run out of options. And once a horse comes into the SHEW network, he has a safety net for LIFE! Max is a lucky fellow to have a caring veterinarian who advocated for him and called us. He feels with  rest and extensive rehab, Max could make a comeback as a pleasure horse. We certainly will give it our best shot.
